Best sales tracking software in 2026: 5 CRMs and a tool for what happens after you send the proposal

Sales tracking software keeps every deal, contact and sales activity in one place, so you can see what is in the pipeline and what needs attention today. For most teams that tool is a CRM. Below are five CRMs that sales teams use to track their pipeline, with free plans and prices checked on the vendors' own pages, plus one tool for the step most CRMs barely cover: what the client does with your proposal after you send it.

In short: for a free start, HubSpot (up to 2 users) or Zoho CRM (up to 3 users). For a pipeline-first CRM, Pipedrive. For heavy customization, Salesforce, from $25 per user a month. For a visual, board-style CRM, monday CRM. To see who opens your proposals and which pages they read, add Sellizer to the CRM you already have.

What sales tracking software does

Tracking sales covers two different things, and it helps to know which one you are missing.

If you need the first, pick a CRM from the list below. If your deals stall after you send the proposal, the second layer matters more. Our guide to sales pipelines covers the first; proposal tracking software covers the second.

The best sales tracking software in 2026

HubSpot

HubSpot puts contacts, companies, deals and activities in one CRM and connects them with marketing and service tools. The free plan covers up to 2 users and includes contact, company and deal management and activity tracking. On October 28, 2026, HubSpot's pricing page (USD, billed annually) listed Starter at $7 per seat a month as a limited-time 65% discount, Professional at $90 and Enterprise at $175 per seat a month. AI-built quotes start in Professional.

Watch out for: the jump from Starter to Professional is large, and many features teams expect, such as advanced automation and custom reports, sit in Professional.

Sellizer connects to HubSpot, so proposal opens and reading time appear next to the deal: see the HubSpot integration.

Pipedrive

Pipedrive is a CRM built around the pipeline: deals sit in columns by stage and you drag them forward. It has four plans (Lite, Growth, Premium, Ultimate) and a 14-day free trial without a credit card. From Growth it syncs your mailbox and tracks email opens and link clicks; Premium adds sending and tracking quotes, proposals and contracts with e-signatures. Pipedrive showed us only euro prices, so check the current price in your currency on pipedrive.com/pricing.

Watch out for: there is no free plan, and several useful extras (lead capture, web visitor tracking, document management) are paid add-ons.

Sellizer has a ready Pipedrive integration, and we keep a list of the top Pipedrive integrations.

Salesforce

Salesforce is the CRM for teams that need to model their own process: custom objects, approval flows, territory rules and detailed forecasting. Salesforce's pricing page lists a Free Suite at $0, Starter Suite at $25 per user a month (billed monthly or annually) and Pro Suite at $100 per user a month billed annually. The Sales Cloud editions run from $195 to $550 per user a month.

Watch out for: the flexibility comes with setup work, so plan time for configuration and for someone to administer it.

See the Salesforce integration for how proposal data reaches Salesforce.

Zoho CRM

Zoho CRM covers leads, deals, workflows, reports and forecasting at a lower price than most of the list. The Free Edition is free for up to 3 users, and the paid editions (Standard, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate) come with a free trial. Email intelligence starts in Professional. Zoho showed us euro and pound prices only; check your price on Zoho's pricing page.

Watch out for: the number of options can feel heavy for a team that only needs a simple pipeline.

Sellizer works with Zoho through the Zoho CRM integration.

monday CRM

monday CRM builds the pipeline from boards, which feels familiar to teams that already plan projects in monday.com. It offers a 14-day free trial; the Basic plan covers 1,000 active contacts and deals and 20 quotes and invoices a month. Prices are per seat, on monday.com/crm/pricing.

Watch out for: limits on contacts, boards and automations differ a lot between plans, so check them against your volume before you buy.

See the monday CRM integration.

Sellizer

Sellizer is our product, and it is not a CRM. It tracks the step after the proposal goes out. You send a PDF, a link or a proposal built in the editor, and Sellizer shows when the client opened it, which pages they read and for how long, and whether someone else opened it too. You get an SMS on the first open and an email on every open, and automatic follow-ups go out when the client goes quiet.

Plans cost $17.60 (Solo, 100 proposals a month) and $28.00 (Team, 400 proposals a month) per user a month billed yearly, or $22 and $35 billed monthly, net of VAT. The trial lasts 14 days and needs no card. Sellizer connects to the CRMs above and others; see all integrations.

Watch out for: Sellizer does not replace a CRM. It tracks proposals; deal stages, forecasts and the rest of the pipeline stay in your CRM.

Sellizer tracks PDF and link proposals page by page and alerts you on the first open. 14 days free, no card.

Free sales tracking software

Three of the tools above have a free option: HubSpot (up to 2 users), Zoho CRM (up to 3 users) and Salesforce (Free Suite). They are enough for a founder or a small team to log deals and see the pipeline. A spreadsheet also works while one person handles a few deals, but it does not log emails or calls by itself, sends no reminders and cannot tell you whether a client read your proposal.

How to choose sales tracking software

  1. Find where deals stall. If they stall before the proposal, you need a better pipeline. If they stall after it, you need to see how the client reacts to the proposal.

  2. Count the people who will enter data. A CRM is only as good as what reps log. Email and calendar sync matter more than the length of the feature list.

  3. Check the plan where the features you need start. Automation, custom reports and document tracking often sit one or two plans above the entry price.

  4. Check the integrations. Your mailbox, calendar and proposal tool should feed the CRM, so nobody has to copy data by hand.

  5. Decide what you will measure. Pick the few numbers you will review every week, such as the ones in our list of sales metrics every B2B company should track.

How we checked

We opened each vendor's pricing page on October 28, 2026, in the US English version of the browser, and noted which billing option was selected. HubSpot and Salesforce showed US dollars. Pipedrive, Zoho and monday showed euros from our location, so we describe their plans without quoting a dollar price. Sellizer is our product. We review prices every quarter; if one has changed, tell us and we will correct it.

Sales tracking software FAQ

What is the best sales tracking software?

It depends on team size and budget. HubSpot and Zoho CRM have free plans for small teams, Pipedrive is built around a visual pipeline, and Salesforce suits companies that need deep customization. If your deals are won or lost after the proposal goes out, add a proposal tracking tool such as Sellizer to the CRM you already use.

What is the best free software for tracking sales?

HubSpot has a free plan for up to 2 users and Zoho CRM a free edition for up to 3 users. Salesforce lists a Free Suite at $0. Pipedrive and monday CRM have no free plan, only a 14-day trial. A spreadsheet also costs nothing, but every update is manual.

What does sales tracking software do?

It records every deal, contact and activity in one place, shows which stage each deal is at, and turns that into reports and forecasts. Some tools also track emails and documents, so you can see when a client opens what you sent.

Can a CRM show whether a client opened my proposal?

Partly. Pipedrive tracks email opens and link clicks from its Growth plan, and quotes and proposals sent from Pipedrive on Premium. Most CRMs stop at the email. A proposal tracking tool shows which pages of a PDF or link the client read and for how long, and sends that data back to the CRM.

Is a spreadsheet enough to track sales?

For one person with a handful of deals, often yes. Once several people sell, a spreadsheet goes out of date quickly: nobody logs calls and emails automatically, there are no reminders, and you cannot see whether a client read your proposal.
