Up-selling
One of the sales techniques, involving persuading the customer to purchase a more expensive, improved, higher-standard product compared to the product they originally wanted to buy.
Example of an upselling strategy:
- starting with the basic version of a product, then gradually presenting minor additions and improvements to offer another product from the same category but of a significantly higher standard and simultaneously higher price (done based on observing the customer's behavior and how far they are willing to go),
- then, when the customer shows interest in the higher-priced product, the salesperson presents the most expensive version from the offer, which compared to the initial choice seems more attractive to the buyer due to its higher quality.
